KFC…but not as you know it!

The crispy skin…moist chicken…and of course, the beautiful, sticky sauce.

But, to be honest, it’s really hard to get fried chicken that’s consistently mouth-wateringly delicious.

Until now.

Perhaps I’m a little biased, but I don’t think ANY nation does fried chicken better than the Koreans.

While in many cuisines, the natural flavour of the chicken is lost in the thick batter, or the “crispy” skin is soggy because of the sauce…Korean Fried Chicken, aka KFC, is never like this.

And if it is, well then you need to go find yourself another source to fulfil your cravings!

One place I’d HIGHLY recommend is Gami Chicken, which has over 10 stores in Victoria already, a store in WA and now, one in Sydney.

Located on the Lower Ground floor of Central Park Mall at Broadway, you can’t miss the giant sign that says “Gami”.

They have a really easy to follow menu, that’s simple and with plenty of corresponding pictures (it always helps to be able to see what you’re ordering, don’t you think?)

My only issue? The fact that they have a VEGETARIAN chicken option…

I mean, hello…if you’re a vegetarian, why are you going to a FRIED CHICKEN shop?

They have both boned and boneless chicken, so they have something to suit people who like to keep clean, as well as those who don’t mind getting a little messy.

The best thing is they allow you to choose 2 sauces, not just one per chicken like some locations.

I chose the soy and garlic, and spicy sauces.

The flavours were delicious – not too sweet, not too spicy, not too salty, perfectly sticky, and of course, the skin was still extra crispy.

Mix in some Korean pickled radish, and an ice cold Korean beer, and you’ve got a flavour bomb.

When I first arrived at Gami at around 6pm, there were only a couple of tables. But once it hit 7pm, it was completely jam packed.

And that was on a Monday night.

It just goes to show how popular Korean Fried Chicken is, and how good Gami Chicken is.

I love to eat – but I’m very particular of ensuring I only taste the best of the best.

When it comes to KFC, I can honestly say you don’t get much better than Gami Chicken. And I’ve tried about 100 different KFC stores.
